Fine! I'll Stop Using Comic Sans
Alright, alright, I'll stop using comic sans for my blog.
It's kinda funny, when I started using comic sans, I didn't really think anything of it. I knew people didn't like it, but good lord I didn't expect such a visceral reaction to it. You'd swear Comic Sans ran over people's dog with some of the reactions I've seen to this page.
I feel like Comic Sans is like the Nickelback of fonts. People hate it, but if you asked them why they hate it, the criticisms become more vague.
I've also gotten some complaints about the green on purple being an eyesore. So there's that too. With everything, I just decided to hit the "fuck it" button and redo the CSS of my site.
People moderately familiar with my favorite band, Green Day, might recognize the styling of the site. For the uninitiated, I've redesigned my blog to share the color scheme of American Idiot.
If you're viewing this in light mode, the color scheme is reflective of the 20th anniversary edition of the album. If you're viewing it in dark mode, it's the regular album colors. I've added green as an accent color to pull in both my favorite color as well as the green used in various merch and the American Idiot music video.
If you're viewing this on an RSS reader, you won't see a fuckin thing so it won't matter.
Anyway, I really like the design changeup and I think the design, especially the dark mode, looks pretty cool. I had debated on doing an OGXBOX/XBOX 360 color scheme for dark and light modes respectively. But with my neocity already kinda working with that, I decided on something different.
Anyway, I hope this css gets less of a visceral response. The only thing I can think of people disliking is probably just the fact they don't like Green Day, but I'm already used to that.

as of writing this...
My work friend is getting promoted to another position, so we won't be coworkers in the same team anymore. Despite that, we'll probably be working more directly with each other funnily enough. I'm happy for her, jealous that she makes $30k more than me, but she's definitely earned it and then some. I really hope this new position treats her better than this team. She burned herself out big time because they dangled a senior position in front of her for years.
Got a new bed coming in. Mrs. Pirate hasn't been able to sleep the best, constantly waking up sore. I can sleep on the floor for all I care (growing up sleeping on a couch will do that I guess), but for her we needed a change. We got a Sleep Number, so I'm curious at how good it is. My mom had one since like the 90s and said she loved it. High hopes.
