God I Need More Color In My Life

If you've known me IRL, you know for a while I've tended to dress pretty monochrome. Mostly wearing black, or if I'm feeling daring a white tee or dark blue something. My iPod is black, my DS was black, my wallet, you get the point.

Something shifted in my brain recently, like within the last year or so, where I kinda started to hate everything being black. I have a desk that's black, so of course my black devices blend in like a fucking chameleon. It was starting to irritate me.

My clothes being some shade of grey started to make me feel boring. Like I was stifling my personality. It felt like Millennial grey but emo. Black isn't even my favorite color, it's green. Why the fuck is most of my stuff not green?

Well, I started to change that. I started to opt for trying to let myself choose something with more color to it. I've been going for a silver/white base color and then accenting with blue/green/purple/etc. I have a pair of black Chuck Taylors that I put pink laces into. I chose a white/green PSP, the light blue DSi, a green Casio F-91W. Black is now a smaller percentage in my wardrobe.

Rooms feel brighter, my stuff is easier to find in the dark, feels like a bit more whimsy has entered.

If all black everything is your thing, I'm not yucking your yum. It just got to the point for me where my life started to feel like I was walking around in a modern McDonald's.

I felt like I needed more color in my life, and I feel like I've made the right call.

as of writing this...

It's been one of the weeks of all time. Work's been stressing me tf out this week and I've been trying to fight that feeling. Got new glasses. I've been wearing thinner frames for a few years, and decided to go back to my "Buddy Hollys" as I call them. It's just the classic Ray-Ban style. Haven't worn it since high school, but I've always liked them. Been reading more of Bram Stoker's Dracula and I'm about a quarter of the way through. It's been a great read so far. I love the epistolic writing style.
