I Got Duped Into Watching a Right Wing Youtuber
Today I got duped into watching a right wing YouTuber, one Reagan Conrad. It started with a simple video talking about why people like fun drinks like lattes. I liked it and let another one play, this one was a 180 on why western women were joining Islam... huh?
I was intrigued, so I watched... aaaaand immediately my alarm bells were going off. First of all, the video started with her yapping about "more and more western women converting to Islam", but the only evidence to this claim was fucking Tik Tok... fucking tik tok. Where some random chick got busted for building a following about being a Physician's Assistant only to be faking the whole thing. So, immediately strike one.
She was talking about how Islam is anti-women and shows examples of countries practicing Sharia law. Which many ex-muslim women seem to agree to this point. The part that started to make me raise an eyebrow was her gassing up Christianity and made it out like it was the thing that gave women rights and completely shifted the paradigm... right. Someone slept through 3rd grade world history. Strike two.
Then she made a comment about Palestine. Equating the support to liberate Palestine as somehow pro-Islam rather than anti-genocide. This was when my brain started to go on high alert. I had made the false assumption that this women likely fell on the lib-left side of things, but this complete mischaracterization only seems to happen when you're not actually "in the trenches", so to speak, of the movement.
I looked at her channel, and what do I see... a collaboration with Daily Fucking Wire. Strike. Goddamn. Three.
Look, I got beef with Islam as an institution for a lot of the same reasons I got beef with Christianity. My beef is also never with the people, the individual Christian/Jews/Muslims/Etc. (generally speaking). While I may agree with SOME aspects of what she's saying, it was built on a basis of pure hogwash from a woman who had a career in right-wing propaganda. This was just abhorrent misinformation, white washing of history, alarmist bullshit classic to conservative boot licking.
I thought about setting the record straight in the comment section in hopes it may reach at least ONE person, but I knew it would be ultimately fruitless, and it would be better if I came over here and bitched rather than boost some hack's engagement. Anyway, rant over. Please for the love of god don't go even viewing her shit. Don't waste your time like I did, unless you're doing some conservative brainrot challenge like my buddy Suliman did, then you do you.

I just finished this post in time before I gotta leave to go do my training for CASA. I'm not sure what today's training will be on, but I'm looking forward to it. I missed last week's training because I went and saw Weezer (fucking phenomenal concert), did the makeup work, so now I'm back on track. Took today off. Will be taking Friday off for FanX. Gonna get my Halo 3 xbox signed by the voices for Master Chief (Steve Downes), Cortana (Jen Taylor), and the Arbiter (Keith David).
