my life in gamertags

Ahoy there!

I just got done watching this video Why Your Gamertag Matters More Than You Think and thought it would be kinda fun to tell my story of my various gamertags throughout my time ever using them.

Rockin Chef & AHandsomePirate

When I first started playing video games, I didn't have an online account of my own, so I either used my dad's account (Rockin Chef) or my Uncle's (AHandsomePirate). With my uncle's account basically being what inspired many gamertags in the future. Rockin Chef was made by my dad combining his love for Rock Band at the time as well as the fact he was a chef. My uncle's, couldn't tell you what inspired that one.

DrJakeanator

This one is based off my childhood nickname (no my first name isn't Jacob). I couldn't tell you why I came up with this name other than Rule of Cool in my 8 year old head. This was my account when I finally joined Xbox Live on my own circa 2009.

I basically combined my nickname, Terminator, and for some reason Dr. Just sounded cool I guess.

xX_G4m1ngCh13f_Xx

Oh a product of the time. the use of the xX___Xx scheme, the 1337speak. Pure late 2000s gaming. I think I made this gamertag because I was watching a lot of Arby n the Chief and wanted to base my gamertag on what I thought Chief would name himself. I was making a rip-off series at the time and so this would be my Chief's GT. Then I never did the series so it was just kinda there.

JC TIVES

I finally screwed my brain tight enough to make a not so incredibly cringe gamertag. This one was easy, just took my first and last initial, then 3 numbers that are important to me and then found them on the periodic table.

MrCaptainPirate

The 2nd pirate gamertag I've used. I kinda just wanted to go with a seminonsensical goofy name. This GT was what my gamertag became when I got an XBOX One and couldn't recover my JC TIVES gamertag.

I got called MrCaptainButtPirate a lot.

RockinTech

This was pretty brief and only for a select couple of games, it was inspired by my dad's gamertag, but I was in tech at the time, so instead of Chef I went with "Tech". Semi inspired to my father-in-law's gamertag TechBaller (Tech and the fact he loves basketball).

ArsenalSnake

This gamertag I really only used in VR. It was inspired by the naming scheme of Metal Gear Solid characters. Combining the Arsenal from Arsenal Gear and Snake from... well all the Snakes in the series. I was REALLY into MGS (still am) at the time.

Big Boss

This is my username on most of my devices as well as on Steam. Can you tell which character from MGS is my "literally me fr" character?

I've played Payday, MGS, Call of Duty, etc. all under this username.

The peak of this gamertag's use was when I was playing the Modern Warfare remake and got into a lobby with Solid Snake and Revolver Ocelot. So, on one team you had Big Boss, Ocelot, and Solid Snake all on one team... the other team never stood a chance.

Arch

This is 1 of 2 online pseudonyms I go under. It's been kinda my mainstay since I switched to the Linux operating system in 2020. I am the "I use Arch BTW" final boss (it's even embroidered on the suit I wore for my wedding).

You basically know me online as either "Arch" or...

AbsurdPirate

This is what you probably know me as. Basically, if you've met me off the internet, you know me as Pirate. If you've met me from gaming, you know me as Arch. I answer to either.

I've already explained on my who am i page how I landed on this username, so I won't elaborate further.

that's all folks

So, there you have it. Basically every major username I've ever gone under for extended periods of time. It's interesting how much a username can tell you about someone, even if it's just goofy there was still a certain state of mind that you have to be in when making it.

Anyway that's all. Just a fun article I wanted to write.

As of writing this...

I put my daughter down for a nap not too long ago and have been playing Minecraft Xbox One edition on this world I've been working on. I started a new world using a seed I really liked from another account and have been enjoying building a little cave base. Was watching some youtube while kinda mindlessly wandering for a cave system and came across the video that inspired this article.
