Nobody Cares, Write Anyway
I've been seeing a lot of new people coming into Bear, so I first wanna say "welcome!" if you're new here. I know for a lot of people who are either new to this space or new to blogging in general might be seeing what gets popular on here and feel discouraged about writing about their mundane lives feeling like nobody cares. They're right, nobody cares, but you should still write about it anyway.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that "content" online is geared to what is both palatable and viral. Catchy headlines, discussions about hot-button topics, curated to appease an algorithm, etc. This often means that creators in these spaces are often forced to hollow themselves out or avoid talking about things they're actually passionate about for the sake of their platform. If you are surprised by this revelation, I have a Nigerian prince for you to meet.
I never really understood internet points, or why people are so obsessed with having them. You have entire accounts dedicated to karma farming on reddit... for what purpose exactly? What basement-dwelling, unwashed-ass having, dweeb cares THAT much about karma? Prior to when being an internet personality became a career, online engagement was generally just a pissing contest to see who was more popular. It wasn't until the Corpos got their grubby little mitts on these platforms that shit went south in a bad way.
Bear to me is a sort of bastion of people who just want to talk about things they're passionate about. Though what seems to get "popular" on this platform is the same sort of thing that gets popular on content platforms like YouTube and as this space gets more eyes it may only get worse. You might have written a post in line with this, and saw the engagement on your blog see an uptick. This might spark feelings that you should just abandon talking about your boring life.
I'm telling you right now, don't. Don't give up writing for catharsis for the sake of the faint chance of being a microcelebrity inside a niche within a niche. Write for you. Write about your boring life. Yeah it may not get "popular", but for the people who stumble across it, it's pretty neat to just see people going about their day.
So talk about your boring life. Showcase your hobbies, the food you made, the walk you went on, the conversations you've had. Probably nobody cares, but that shouldn't be the reason you stop doing it. Do it for you. Sometimes the things you are most proud of writing about won't hit even top 100, but that doesn't devalue your work. If popular meant good, then Justin Bieber must've been one of the greatest artists of all time.

as of writing this...
Stomach has been kinda upset today. Went into work anyway. My wife made me coffee this morning and I feel bad because I didn't want to drink it out of worry it would make my stomach worse. I get to do work from home tomorrow instead of my usual Monday because they're doing an inspection on the smoke alarm and air vents in my apartment and I want someone home just for personal security reasons. Normally my wife would just do it, but she's got uni classes most of the day. I'll probably leave early today and PTO out the rest of the day after my meetings.
